Company history
Manufacturing experience in several forms.
Founded in 1888, Dundee Mills operated within the textile economy of Griffin and the surrounding region. Over time, the company’s work included towels, bedding, broadcloth, infant goods, and baby and healthcare products.
The corporate record includes films, packaging, photographs, correspondence, product information and the knowledge of former employees and their families. Together, these sources show how requirements, machinery, materials and markets changed across the company’s operating life.
This history is presented as an operating record, not a certificate of current capacity. Former products and facilities demonstrate what the company once made. They do not establish what it makes now.

Company origins
Dundee Mills is established in Griffin, Georgia, within a growing Southern textile industry.
20th century
Expansion and diversification
The company develops manufacturing experience across household textiles, consumer goods and institutional product categories.
Baby Products Division
A representative is appointed
An infant image placed on surviving Dundee packaging becomes one of the company’s most durable visual records. The representative’s term, duties and succession are not recorded on the package.
Present programme
Return to Source
The company consolidates its American record, acknowledges the historical value carried by the Dundee name and returns the unresolved representative appointment to Dundee for succession.
The Dundee name
A connection requiring proper acknowledgement.
The company’s historical account associates the Dundee name with the Scottish city’s international reputation for textile manufacture. That reputation was created through local knowledge, enterprise and labour over generations.
The archive does not convert Dundee’s history into a company possession. It establishes why the name was valuable in America and why the present programme must return attention to its stated source.

Baby Products record
The package outlasted the appointment papers.
Surviving Dundee packaging records an infant representative but provides no retirement date and identifies no successor. The original model, now known as San Tropat, has therefore remained attached to the corporate record substantially beyond the ordinary duration of infancy.
The revised Notice of Maturity addresses that filing problem. Dundee Mills has appointed San Tropat Temporary Supervisor of Baby Model Succession and instructed him to return to Dundee to help determine who or what should next hold the historical representative role.
Film and document archive
The company was extensively filmed.
Historic films preserve factories, machinery, products, employees, celebrations and the closing period of Griffin operations. They are being indexed alongside packaging, photographs, correspondence and public records.
The films are evidence of activity at the time recorded. Corporate narration contained within them is retained as narration and reviewed accordingly.
