Company overview

A practical approach to textile development.

Founded in Griffin, Georgia, Dundee Mills developed expertise across textile manufacturing, consumer goods and institutional supply. Its work included towels, bedding, broadcloth, infant goods, and baby and healthcare products.

The company's present programme begins with the same basic disciplines: understand the requirement, examine the available evidence, consult the people affected and establish whether a useful product can be made.

Current programme

Return to Source

Dundee Mills took its name from Dundee, Scotland, a city whose textile knowledge and industrial reputation were recognised internationally. Return to Source is the company's programme to reconnect that American history with Dundee and to consider how the relationship may support relevant work today.

RTS-01

Historical record

The company is consolidating films, packaging, photographs, product records and employee histories to establish a reliable account of its development and its connection to Dundee.

RTS-02

Product study

Initial research is examining whether established textile principles can address current requirements in personal care, comfort, durability and responsible material use.

RTS-03

Dundee engagement

Local knowledge, technical experience and public evidence will inform the programme before decisions are made about design, testing, production or commercial development.

Since 1888

The record remains relevant.

Dundee Mills grew from a regional textile enterprise into a substantial American manufacturer. The surviving record documents changes in materials, machinery, labour, product design and consumer needs across more than a century.

That record is being preserved as a working corporate resource. It will be used to support research, correct the public account and identify experience that may still have practical value.
